We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.
- What is a Hostel?
We’re glad you asked! A hostel is a form of lodgings where guests pay for a bed rather than a room. They tend to be cheaper than hotels or serviced apartments. Of course, CODE is no ordinary hostel!
- Who stays at a Hostel?
Everyone! The perception is that hostels are the preserve of the young and extremely budget-conscious but, in reality, they are fast becoming the choice for people of every age who want to keep an eye on costs without compromising on comfort or cool features. And, of course, they generate a convivial, friendly atmosphere that you don’t always find in hotels!
- What sort of rooms do you have?
The best sort of rooms! Our rooms are operated by a code system, making them extra secure (they lock fast when closed and can only be opened by guests booked in to that particular room.)
There are pod beds in every room. Each pod has a light, coat hook and a pair of electricity sockets in it so you can read and charge your electronic devices inside your pod bed from behind a curtain, for extra privacy. Our guests tell us repeatedly that they appreciate the added privacy and comfort of the pods. In addition, each guest has their own code-operated locker in their room.
We have a mix of rooms; some of them have six pod beds in them, some have four pod beds.
Check out the photos of the rooms in our ‘Gallery’ on this website.
- Can I reserve without a credit card or debit card?
No, unfortunately it’s not possible to make a reservation in advance without full payment being made using a credit or debit card but since this payment is fully refundable if a cancellation is made 7 days or more before your stay, we think it is a fair policy. We require the full fare to be paid at least 7 days in advance or we have to cancel the booking and refund your deposit. We will contact you to notify you to request full payment before authorising any cancellation.
- Can I reserve via the website?
Yes, in fact our best available rates are only available on our website! You can book via this website.
- Can I reserve by phone?
Yes, by calling us direct on 0131 659 9883 (if calling from outside the UK, the number is +44 131 659 9883) you can book in advance. Please have your credit/debit card details to hand when you do this.
- Is it essential to book in advance?
No it’s not but this is the only way to guarantee a bed will be available to you on arrival.
- Do you accept group reservations?
Yes, in some occasions we welcome group reservations. Please email us or call us (+44 131 659 9883 if calling from outside the UK; 0131 659 9883 if calling from within the UK). Damage deposits may be required for large groups.
CODE pod hostel doesn’t accept stag and hen parties.
- Is there an age limit?
Anyone aged 14 or over is entitled to stay at the hostel as long as they are accompanied by a parent/guardian over the age of 18. This must be pre-arranged with the hostel.
Anyone over the age of 18 can stay here without their parents!
- What is your cancellation policy?
Bookings made in advance are allowed 7 days’ or more cancellation notice in order to receive a full refund of payment. Any cancellation made less than 7 days before scheduled arrival/check in will result in forfeiture of the full fare for your stay. You will also forfeit your full fare if you do not show up on your scheduled arrival date.
